Bubbles with Attached Quantum Vortices in Trapped Binary Bose–Einstein Condensates

چکیده
Specific topological excitations of energetically stable “core-and-mantle” configurations trapped two-component immiscible Bose–Einstein condensates are studied numerically within the coupled Gross–Pitaevskii equations. Nonstationary long-lived coherent structures, that consist several quantum vortex filaments penetrating “mantle” from outside to inside and vice versa demonstrate quite nontrivial dynamics, observed in simulations for first time. The ends can remain attached interface between “core” if latter is large enough while surface tension not small. shapes such “bubbles” strongly affected by vortices sometimes far being spherical.

SPECIAL FEATURE: PERSPECTIVE Vortices and turbulence in trapped atomic condensates
After more than a decade of experiments generating and studying the physics of quantized vortices in atomic gas Bose–Einstein condensates, research is beginning to focus on the roles of vortices in quantum turbulence, as well as other measures of quantum turbulence in atomic condensates. Such research directions have the potential to uncover new insights into quantum turbulence, vortices, and s...

متن کاملVortex excitations in binary mixture of trapped Bose-Einstein condensates
Elementary excitations of vortices placed in one component of a binary mixture of Bose-Einstein condensates have been studied using perturbative and numerical solutions of the linearised equations for excitations, and numerical simulation of the coupled Gross-Pitaevskii equations. Two distinct instabilities originating from resonances of the excitations have been found. One leads to the vortex ...
متن کاملChaotic oscillations in finite quantum systems: trapped Bose-Einstein condensates
We discuss the recently achieved Bose-Einstein condensation for alkali-metal atoms in magnetic traps. The theoretically predicted low-energy collective oscillations of the condensate have been experimentally confirmed by laser imaging techniques. We show by using Poincarè sections that at higher energies non-linear effects appear and oscillations become chaotic. PACS 03.75.Fi, 05.30.Jp, 05.45.+...
